Abstract: These dental clinics provide an opportunity to offer tobacco cessation advice and counselling to the tobacco addicts. Dentistry has long recognized the connection between tobacco use and oral health and the appropriateness for oral health professionals to address tobacco dead diction. The regulatory bodies in India urges dentists to assist patients with tobacco cessation. The dental team routinely provides educational and preventive services to patients; the use of dental clinics can be extended to tobacco cessation centres. The dental visit provides a “teachable moment” during which the dental team provide evidence-based brief interventions to patients who use tobacco and assist patients in tobacco cessation.
