ABSTRACT:IPS e.max CAD has been considered one of the strongest glass-ceramics which provides higher mechanical properties than other types of glass based ceramic material but still limits its use in thin sections in posterior area. The aim of this study was to compare the fracture resistance of IPS e.max versus VITA suprinity CAD vonlays restoring premolars. First maxillary premolar was prepared according to all ceramic vonlay preparation guidelines, duplicated into twenty epoxy resin dies, the samples were divided into two equal groups, group (I) IPS e.max CAD and group (V) VITA suprinity CAD, then scanned by 3 shape D500 extra oral scanner and milled by Sirona MCX5 milling machine. Vonlays were subjected to thermomechanical fatigue load, by using universal testing machine load to fracture was tested. A statistically significant difference was found between IPS e.max and VITA suprinity where the highest mean value was recorded in VITA suprinity group.
