ABSTRACT:Most surgical procedure articles throughout the last three decades, especially those dealing with newer techniques, have included explanations of indications and contraindications, as well as the benefits and drawbacks of individual treatments. However, only a few authors have recently focused on periodontal surgical indications. In light of our current understanding of periodontal disease and therapy, this review will examine the indications for certain periodontal surgical procedures.
