ABSTRACT:Complete denture fabrication in clinically compromised situations such as flabby ridge and/ or atrophic ridge is a challenging task for the prosthodontist for years. Flabby ridge and highly resorbed residual mandibular ridge is commonly observed in older patients. Accurate impressioning of these tissues plays a major role in ensuring a well-fitting and stable prosthesis. This article describes a technique for making a definitive impression for highly displaceable and resorbed residual ridges. The technique is especially applicable for mandibular edentulous ridges. The choice of the impression materials, as well as the design of the impression tray, focuses on preventing distortion of the displaceable residual ridges during impression making.
